Hubbis Digital Assets in Wealth Management Forum 2022, Singapore

The inaugural Hubbis DIGITAL ASSETS IN WEALTH MANAGEMENT FORUM in Singapore today was a huge success, with more than 200 senior participants gathered to discuss the evolution of digital assets among Asia’s wealth management community.

The icing on the cake was the panel discussion moderated by Propine’s CEO, Tuhina Singh, together with speakers including Steve Knabl, Chief Operating Officer & Managing Partner of Swiss-Asia Financial Services; Rajeev Tummala, Director – Digital, Data & Innovation of HSBC Securities Services; and Irfan Ahmad, APAC Product Lead of State Street Digital.

The panel discussed the converging trends of the global landscape of digital assets custody solutions and why regulation matters both in the regulatory status of service providers as well as the legal frameworks to safeguard interest.

Some of the highlights of the discussion:

On the sell side, Rajeev Tummala said that “… when we come to 5, 10 to 15 years down the line, the kind of infrastructure we have today versus the kind of infrastructure we ought to be having in five years from now is completely different. And that is why we need to start today because there is a wholesale change in the way we operate,”.

On the buy side, Steve Knabl commented, “… what people want is the infrastructure that they can trust. Because they know that you’ve done your work right,”.

Irfan Ahmad continued, “… we’ve seen over time that the generation of these potential new models of access to asset classes and reduced points of distribution models that may emerge has required a significant amount of thought around how the market structure will develop over time,”.

Tuhina summed up the panel discussion by saying, “the big takeaway for us is that the FTX collapse or the ensuing ripples that are creating is definitely NOT an end for institutional interest in the digital asset class. If anything, it is a new beginning, new and more interesting in-depth conversations are being created,”. “ … the trend is not going away, … the cycles of change are going to get faster.” she added.

Once again, enormous thanks to Michael Stanhope and his competent team for organising this successful event. The event provided a great platform for us to meet many wealth management community members and rekindle our relationships with peers and partners, including Independent Reserve, SDAX, METACO, Tokenomy, AsiaNext, Bybit, InvestaX, DigiFinance, and wealtra.
