Propine Participated In World Economic Forum Report
12 May 2021 — Propine is pleased to have participated in the latest report by the World Economic Forum: Digital Assets, Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), and the Future of Capital Markets.
A few months ago, our CEO, Tuhina Singh was invited together with other established capital market incumbent players, new entrants, regulators and governments to contribute their valuable perspectives with the project team.
With a total of close to 200 interviews and 8 global workshops, the report provides insights on the emerging uses of DLT in capital markets and underlines how DLT can positively impact costs, market liquidity and balance sheet capacity while reducing the complexity, opacity and fragmentation of capital markets.
One of the enablement use cases highlighted include custody services for digital assets that can equip institutions to adapt to a DLT environment. Asset managers and institutional investors would need to rely on custodians to:
1. Meet regulatory requirements
2. Manage risk
3. Provide value add service
The main question now revolves around what custody will look like, from both an operational and a technical perspective.
