World Economic Forum Releases Cryptocurrency Focused Report “Crypto, What Is It Good For?”
22 Dec 2020 — Last week, the World Economic Forum and its first #cryptocurrency focused global council released its inaugural report, “Crypto, What Is It Good For? An Overview of Cryptocurrency Use Cases”.
The release of the report marks the inevitability of its mainstream adoption and was timely, amid bitcoin breaking above the psychologically imposing $20,000 mark.
Highlighting use cases of #digitalassets that go beyond cryptocurrency and exploring its impact on individuals, institutions, and society as a whole, this report is important because the introduction to the unfamiliar especially to the masses is what will bring the technology into the final stage of mass adoption, albeit a long and arduous process.
It’s the beginning of more support and understanding of cryptocurrency with increasing number of credible institutions coming up with reliable information and safe solutions into the industry.
The report states that while much has been written about blockchain technology, there is little discussion of cryptocurrencies beyond price and financial speculation, and concludes that over the course of this year, they will produce research, content and events that make it comprehensible, accessible and inclusive.
